Your adventure begins with a scenic domestic flight to Jinka, the gateway to the Omo Valley. Upon arrival, visit the welcoming Aari tribe known for their pottery craftsmanship and traditional farming lifestyle. If your visit coincides with a market day, you will experience lively local trading and cultural interactions.
Travel through Mago National Park to meet the famous Mursi tribe, globally recognized for their unique lip plate traditions. Later proceed to Turmi while visiting the Banna tribe or their vibrant weekly market. If available, witness the remarkable Hamar bull-jumping ceremony, a traditional rite of passage.
Journey to Omorate near the Kenyan border and cross the Omo River by traditional boat to meet the Dassanech people. Learn about their fishing and pastoral culture before returning to Turmi. Later, enjoy a cultural visit to the Hamar tribe villages.
Visit the Karo people, admired for their elaborate body painting traditions. Explore their hilltop settlements overlooking the Omo River and enjoy interaction with locals. Optional visit to local markets or ceremonial gatherings.
Drive north to Konso, a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site. Discover stone terraced hills, meet local elders including the Konso King, and explore traditional graves decorated with symbolic wooden statues known as Waka stones.
Continue to Arba Minch, known as the "Forty Springs". Visit Dorze village famous for tall bamboo beehive-shaped huts and colorful weaving traditions. Learn how locals produce cotton textiles and traditional Ethiopian foods.
Enjoy a relaxing boat safari on Lake Chamo where you will see giant Nile crocodiles, hippos, and numerous water birds. After lunch, fly back to Addis Ababa and relax at your hotel.
Travel to Lalibela, home to the world-famous rock-hewn churches carved from solid stone. Enjoy an easy afternoon exploring the town and preparing for your historical discoveries.
Spend a full day exploring Lalibela’s sacred churches. Optional mule trekking to Asheton Monastery or a scenic drive to Yemrehanna Kristos cave church. Later, explore the UNESCO rock-hewn churches complex.
Drive through scenic Ethiopian highlands to Gondar, known as the "Camelot of Africa". Visit the historic Fasil Ghebbi Royal Enclosure featuring medieval castles and bath structures.
